Dr. Susan L. Forbes began her role as Manager of the Teaching and Learning Centre in January 2018. Prior to joining the Centre, Susan served as a Special Advisor to the Provost, responsible for overseeing the professional development of the University’s academic advisors as well as serving as a member of the Student Success Committee. Additionally, she is a part-time instructor and Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Prior to coming to Ontario Tech University, Susan worked at several universities in Ontario and Nova Scotia. Dr. Forbes holds a Ph.D. in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario and remains an active researcher working in the area of Organizational Support for Amateur Sports Officials.| U6 - 11 | x 2927

jeanetteJEANETTE OLIVEIRA          

Jeanette Oliveira, M. Ed., is the Faculty Development Coordinator in the Teaching and Learning Centre. She has worked at Ontario Tech University since 2010 and brings a wide variety of expertise in educational technology and pedagogical approaches. She is available for consultations with faculty and teaching assistants. In her role she is accountable for a number of responsibilities; University-wide course evaluations, faculty workshops, new faculty and TA orientations, educational technologies training (Blackboard, Turnitin, Adobe Connect, Turning Point), Speaking of Learning newsletter, Certificate of University Teaching for faculty and TAs.

Jeanette holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Education at Ontario Tech University. Her research interests include education and digital technologies and e-learning. | U6 - 6 | x 2816


Michael Guy is an Educational Technology Analyst for the Teaching and Learning Centre. He works with internal and external partners to research, test, and implement educational solutions to improve the teaching and learning experience. He also provides educational training and support to faculty, and, in addition, works on developing data-driven solutions.

Michael has a certificate in Adult Education from Seneca College, is a graduate of the Microcomputer Technician program at George Brown College, and holds several technology certifications from IBM and Sun Microsystems. Michael also completed the John Hopkins University Data Science Specialization through Coursera.  Prior to Ontario Tech University, Michael developed business-related applications in banking, commercial real estate, and a number of other industries.| U6 - 2 | x 2717


Dainty is the Administrative Assistant for the Office of Learning Innovation, reporting to the Director, Learning Innovation in addition to providing support to the Manager, Centre for Quality Enhancement and the Manager, Centre for Teaching and Learning and their Teams.

Prior to becoming a part of the Ontario Tech University Team, she has worked as the Executive/Administrative Assistant to Senior Management and their Teams in the corporate industry.  Dainty is a Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) and has been a member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals for over 20 years. As someone who believes in innovation and developing young minds, she is excited to be working in the Learning and Innovation, and being part of the Collaboratory. |CC1100 | x 6299


Bridgette Atkins is a Faculty Development Officer at the Teaching and Learning Centre. She facilitates educational development programming such as the Certificate in University Teaching; Certificate in University Teaching for Teaching Assistants; “New to UOIT” orientation sessions; and workshops. Bridgette also provides support to members of the teaching community through one-on-one instructional consultations; assistance with course development and redesign projects; and educational technology training for software including Blackboard, Turnitin, and Respondus 4.0 Campus-wide. Bridgette holds a Bachelor of Education and Master of Arts in Education in the field of Education and Digital Technology from Ontario Tech University. | U6 - 3 | x 2773


Dr. Caroline Ferguson recently joined the Teaching and Learning Centre as a Faculty Development Officer. She offers educational support to the teaching community in the areas of course development, general teaching strategies, and educational training and support. She develops and facilitates customized workshops and educational programming and is engaged in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Previously, Caroline worked as a senior math and chemistry teacher, a Physics and Engineering Specialist, and a Sessional Instructor with the Faculty of Health Sciences. Caroline holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Toronto as well as a Bachelor of Education from Ontario Tech University.| U6 - 4 | x 6182


Shannon has been working at the Teaching and Learning Centre as a Multimedia Developer since 2008. She is responsible for the creation and development of educational resources such as websites, videos, diagrams, photos, learning objects, and posters. She also provides educational technology technical support and training for Ontario Tech University faculty. She is a graduate of the Media Studies Program at the University of Western Ontario, and the Multimedia Design Program at Fanshawe College.  Shannon has a graduate certificate in Learning and Technology from Royal Roads University, and completed her Masters of Education in 2016. Her research interests include self-directed learning, online learning, and educational video. | Collaboratory | x 6191


Victoria is new to the Multimedia team at the Teaching and Learning Centre. In her role as a Multimedia Developer, she is responsible for video production, photography and e-learning that supports faculty development, innovation and practices. Victoria obtained her Bachelor of Design from OCAD University in 2009 and is currently completing her Master’s in Educational Technology at Concordia University. Her interests include interactive design, accessible technology, e-learning and graphic design.| Collaboratory | x 2339
