Whether you are looking for information on how to setup your technology tools for the first week of class or how to begin tracking your teaching development for your teaching dossier, use these checklists to stay on-track during your first months at Ontario Tech.

Before You Arrive
- Register for New to Ontario Tech Orientation.
- Browse Human Resources’ New Faculty Guide for information about relocating to the Oshawa area. Familiarize yourself with the Oshawa community if you are new to the area.
- Email your dean with your arrival date and set a time to meet.
- Meet your Faculty’s administrative assistant; s/he will be a key resource.
- Explore a campus map to familiarize yourself with the location of buildings and parking lots.
- Discover learning technology and teaching support resources to assist with effective teaching, technology and classroom setup.
- Browse the New to Ontario Tech Resources.
- Familiarize yourself with Ontario Tech's General, Non-Academic, and Academic Policies.

When You Arrive
- Notify Human Resources of any changes or updates to your address, personal, or emergency contact information.
- Attend New to Ontario Tech New Faculty Orientation.
- Register your vehicle for on-campus parking.
- Obtain your Ontario Tech Photo ID card.
- Visit IT Services to:
- Obtain your Ontario Tech Banner ID and password.
- Pickup your laptop and sign onto the network.
- Activate your email.
- Set up your other devices on the network.
- Register with Total Access to view your paystubs online.
- Set up your phone.
- Meet with your dean.
- Review your role, accountabilities, and goals.
- Review important human resources topics, such as absence notifications, Faculty meetings, and relevant health and safety practices.
- Complete the mandatory training modules (within the first two weeks):
- Complete the Ontario Tech Employment Equity Survey.
- Contact the Teaching and Learning Centre for learning management system training, and/or to discuss course design and teaching methods.

Within Six Months
- Create a plan of work with your dean, and include your teaching, research, and service plans for the first year and beyond.
- Start a file for your teaching dossier and add to it.
- Attend at least one workshop in the Teaching and Learning Centre, or meet with a faculty development officer.
- Participate in the New to Ontario Tech programming available throughout the semester.

Within the First Year
- Evaluate how you met your goals in your plan of work. Determine which were successful, which need improvement, and which are in-progress.
- Set goals for the next academic year.
- Participate in at least one professional development activity (workshops/guest speakers).
- There's a lot going on at the end of the semester – remember that work/life balance is key to your success!
