Have you ever considered replacing your course textbook with something more affordable and flexible? In this hands-on workshop we will explore open textbook and OER (Open Educational Resources) collections. If possible, please bring a course syllabus. We’ll discuss options for modifying and remixing open textbooks within the bounds of copyright and Creative Commons licenses, with a demonstration of the Pressbooks platform. 

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to: 

  • Assess the availability of open textbooks and supplementary materials (quizzes, slides, etc.) for specific courses 
  • Compare options for modifying and remixing open textbooks using Pressbooks
  • Understand copyright considerations surrounding the use of OER and Creative Commons licenses
