In this workshop, we will explore a variety of active learning strategies to enhance student engagement and learning in the classroom. Some of the strategies introduced will include the use of technology, while others will require only paper, or no materials at all. We will also discuss and address any obstacles an instructor may face when implementing these techniques. 

Learning Objectives:

This workshop will:  

  • Describe key characteristics of active learning
  • Identify at least three active learning techniques, and how they can be implemented in a classroom setting
  • Understand some of the obstacles instructors may face when implementing active learning strategies, and how these may be overcome
