New Quizzes Hub

Canvas has transitioned to a new quizzing engine called New Quizzes. While your existing quizzes and question banks will remain accessible, they must be migrated to the New Quiz format in order to be used in your courses.

Classic Quizzes is no longer supported at Ontario Tech and has limited functionality. Please double-check your courses to ensure that you are using the correct quiz engine, especially if you have shared, received, or migrated course content.

  • 24/7 Canvas Support is also available to assist you with everyday Canvas use, “how-to” questions, course management issues, and technical problems. Access it directly through the “24/7 Support” menu in your Canvas instance.

What's new with New Quizzes?

New Quizzes offers several tools including:

  • Course-wide student accommodations 
  • Shuffle answers by question
  • Printing quizzes
  • Require waiting period between attempts
  • Stimulus, ordering, and hot spot question types

What features are NOT available within New Quizzes?

There are some features and functionalities that are currently unavailable in New Quizzes although they may be introduced in a future update. Please be aware of the following:

  • There is no option to provide partial credit for Categorization or Ordering questions at this time. 
  • Regrading only applies to completed submissions. If all students will be affected by the regrade, please wait for all submissions before regrading.
  • Only point values can be changed for Categorization questions when regrading; correct answers cannot be changed for this question type.

Can I still create Classic Quizzes?

No. After July 2, 2025, you will no longer be able to create Classic Quizzes. However, your existing quizzes and question banks will remain accessible and can be seamlessly migrated to the New Quiz format.

Can I migrate my existing Classic Quizzes to the New Quiz format?

Yes. You will be able to migrate your existing quizzes and question banks to the New Quiz format. While New Quizzes migration supports all question types, you should still review your quizzes for assigning them to students.
