Course Accessibility Checker
Canvas now includes a Course Accessibility Checker that scans your entire course for common accessibility issues. This tool provides a course-wide view of accessibility concerns by scanning Pages and Assignments, making it easier to identify and prioritize issues across your course.
Please note that the Course Accessibility Checker does not detect all accessibility issues, particularly those found in complex or interactive content created outside the Rich Content Editor.
Canvas Notebook (for Students)
The new Notebook feature helps students actively engage with course content by highlighting text, marking key concepts as Important or Unclear, and adding notes. Entries are automatically organized in a personal Notebook for easy review.
New Quizzes
Canvas has transitioned to a new quizzing engine called New Quizzes, which replaced the original quizzing tool (now known as Classic Quizzes). New Quizzes offers a variety of features including more question types, the ability to add course-wide time accommodations, enhanced item analysis, and improved workflow options for building and moderating assessments.
Discussion Checkpoints
When creating a graded discussion, you can set multiple due dates or checkpoints to accommodate different stages of the discussion process, such as the initial post and follow-up replies.
This feature allows for more structured participation, ensuring students meet deadlines for each required step in the discussion.
Enhanced Rubrics
Enhanced rubrics make it easier for instructors to create and reuse rubrics, offer more precise feedback, and speed up grading.
The new Rubric Criteria Builder streamlines the rubric creation process, leveraging features like drag-and-drop functionality, rating order customization, and the ability to save rubrics as draft
The SpeedGrader interface has also been refined to offer vertical, horizontal, and traditional views, enhancing the grading experience on smaller devices.
Self-Assessment
Self Assessments encourage students to take ownership of their learning by actively reviewing and evaluating their own work based on the same criteria used by their instructors.
Once enabled for the assignment, students have access to a Self Assessment Rubric, allowing them to review and score their work, if enabled by their instructor.
