Community of Practice
A Community of Practice (CoP) is a group of individuals who share a common interest, challenge, or area of expertise and come together to learn, collaborate, and grow.
The Teaching and Learning Centre facilitates a Community of Practice focused on Indigenization, decolonization, and reconciliation in teaching and learning. The CoP provides a collaborative and supportive space for instructors, teaching assistants, and staff to engage in ongoing conversations, share experiences, explore resources, and reflect on practice.
The CoP typically meets monthly and remains connected through an online course site.
The goals of the CoP include:
- Sharing ideas, experiences, and reflections related to Indigenization and decolonization in teaching and learning
- Exploring instructional approaches, pedagogies, and practices that support Indigenous perspectives and ways of knowing
- Identifying, developing, or experimenting with strategies and resources that support Indigenous students and/or the inclusion of Indigenous pedagogies and content for all students
- Developing a collaborative, supportive, and flexible learning community committed to ongoing learning and reflection
Previous meetings and discussions have explored topics such as:
- Inclusion, Indigenization, and reconciliation
- Cultural appropriation vs. appreciation
- BCcampus' Pulling Together Guides
- Problems of Practice and reflective dialogue
