Gemini Gems
The Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) has developed a collection of Gemini Gems to support instructors with common teaching and course design tasks. Each Gem provides guided, AI-supported assistance focused on a specific area of teaching and learning.
Gems are intended to help you explore ideas, review your work, and identify opportunities for improvement. Like any AI tool, they are designed to complement, not replace, your professional judgment and existing Ontario Tech policies, requirements, and resources.
What is a Gemini Gem?
A Gemini Gem is a customized version of Google Gemini designed to help with a specific task. Unlike a general conversation with Gemini, a Gem is provided with specific instructions, context, and resources that guide how it responds.
Getting Started
The following Gems have been designed around specific teaching and learning needs at Ontario Tech. Depending on the Gem, you may be asked to provide information about your course, describe an assessment or learning activity, or upload relevant materials for review.
To use one of the TLC Gems:
- Select the Gem you would like to use below and enter your Ontario Tech login credentials when prompted.
- Once you open the Gem, confirm that you are signed in to Gemini using your Ontario Tech Google (.net) account.
- Review the introductory instructions provided within the Gem.
- Type "Hi" to start the conversation and receive the first prompt.
- Follow the prompts or describe what you would like help with.
- Continue the conversation to ask questions, clarify recommendations, or explore alternatives.
