Multimedia
Enhance your courses by adding multimedia components. Whether you would like to use video lectures for a flipped classroom, podcasts to highlight guest speakers, or learn do-it-yourself techniques for authoring multimedia, the Teaching and Learning Centre provides support through our multimedia developers for all teachers on campus.
We can work with you to:
- Train you how to create your own online content
- Discuss how we can make a multimedia project for you
INSTRUCTOR EDITED VIDEOS
If you prefer to learn how to develop your own videos, we can teach you how to use:
- KALTURA - an extension inside of our learning management system where you can create a basic lecture with minimal editing. It allows you to capture your screen, writing, voice, and face on your webcam while delivering your content.
- CAMTASIA - software that allows you to capture your screen, writing, voice, and webcam to create online content.
- STUDIO RECORDING - We have a small studio space with professional lights, cameras, and audio equipment that you can book.
The above three types of content do not require a project initiation form.
If you are not sure whether to use Kaltura or Camtasia, below is a chart comparing the two screen capturing methods:

MULTIMEDIA DEVELOPER EDITED VIDEOS
Below is a list of different types of videos we have done in the past:
- Guest lecture
- Interview
- Lab instruction
- Tour
- Simulation
- Event
- Creative
Depending on the amount of shots, graphics, and locations needed, the more time it will take to complete the project. If you prefer to plan a video, and have the multimedia team work on it for you, you will need to submit a project initiation form.
MULTIMEDIA DEVELOPER CREATED INTERACTIVE TOOLS
We can also help you develop interactive tools like a learning module or interactive diagram. The software we use is called Adobe Captivate.
